- The 1st standard wheelbase car ran by Sox & Martin. After being factory backed by Mercury (a Comet Cyclone) for the 1964 season, Ronnie & Buddy were at the table ready to sign a contract again. After reading all paperwork they noticed Mercury decided not to include 2 personal cars (demo's) as they asked for. They got up & walked away from the offer that day. Mercury called back the very next day agreeing to the 2 cars, but Ronnie & Buddy had already signed with Chrysler (with 2 cars) and their Mopar reign began... Photo is of the 1:18 pre-production sample car, of that 1965 Plymouth Hemi car they raced their very 1st year of running Mopars, and it is a very detailed collectible. Made by Hwy 61 for Supercar Collectibles, it features the Red-White-Blue race day paint (hood scoop to be Blue on production cars), correct style hinges for opening hood, doors, and trunk. a wired & plumbed 426 cross-ram Hemi, detailed interior, detailed chassis, the Keystone Klassic mags, and special packaging on this Limited Edition of 1,500 cars ever to be made.
